C&S Industries, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") develops and publishes StarGazer Terrestrial. This page covers both our copyright notice and our privacy disclosure. In short: StarGazer Terrestrial does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Your location, camera, and motion data are used only on your device to draw the sky and never leave your phone.

Copyright

© 2026 C&S Industries, LLC. All rights reserved.

StarGazer Terrestrial — including its name, icon, user interface design, and source code — is the property of C&S Industries, LLC. Unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this application, or any portion of it, is strictly prohibited.

Star positions and constellation line figures are derived from the open-source d3-celestial project (BSD license). Satellite orbital elements are provided by CelesTrak. Planet positions use the approximate orbital elements published by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Location

StarGazer Terrestrial asks for your location ("While Using the App") so it can show the sky exactly as it appears where you are standing. Your location is:

If you decline location access, StarGazer Terrestrial still works and shows the sky from a default location. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > StarGazer Terrestrial.

Camera & Motion Sensors

StarGazer Terrestrial uses your iPhone's motion sensors and compass (Apple's Core Motion framework) to follow where you point the phone. If you turn on the optional Camera view, StarGazer Terrestrial shows your camera's live picture behind the stars. This data is:

Camera access is requested only when you first turn on the Camera view, and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Satellite Data Downloads

When you turn on Satellites, StarGazer Terrestrial downloads publicly available satellite orbit data from CelesTrak (celestrak.org). This request contains no personal information: no location, no identifiers, nothing about you or your device. As with any internet request, CelesTrak's servers can see the IP address the request comes from, under their own policies. If you never turn on satellites, StarGazer Terrestrial makes no network requests at all.

Information We Do Not Collect

StarGazer Terrestrial has no account system, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no crash reporting service. We do not collect your name, email address, location, device identifiers, usage statistics, or any other personal information.

Data Storage

Your display preferences, such as which labels are shown, night mode, and the faintest-star setting, are saved only in your device's local app storage (iOS UserDefaults). Downloaded satellite orbit data is kept in the app's local cache. None of this leaves your device, and all of it is deleted automatically if you delete the app.

Children's Privacy

StarGazer Terrestrial does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.

Changes to This Page

If this page ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that does collect data — we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
